Belarusians are confident that Lukashenko himself raised gasoline prices
On June 7 in Belarus, retail gasoline prices jumped by 30%, and human indignation poured into the streets. In the evening, motorists held a “Stop Gasoline” campaign, blocking passage along the central street of Minsk, Independence Avenue. The next day, at an emergency meeting on economic issues, the President of the Republic, Alexander Lukashenko, ordered a reduction in prices, and lo and behold, on June 9, prices crept down by 13-20%.
