On July 10, 1949, the body of the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party, Dimitrov, who died suddenly eight days earlier, was transferred to the mausoleum. The head of the Soviet government delegation, Voroshilov, emphasized in his speech that the Soviet country mourns together with the Bulgarian people. For a year and a half, Bulgaria lived under the 1947 constitution, which was called “Dimitrovskaya”, and was officially a socialist state.
