“The First Monday of May” - a novel-opening
What do you expect from a romance novel? Heartbreaking feelings, emergency circumstances, great and pure love? Everyone is tired of this, and, fortunately, modern authors understand this. Therefore, “The First Monday of May” by Elizaveta Vishny deserves attention. Despite the fact that the story is as old as time, you should not skip the book. A married man, a family man, meets a woman who inspires him and adds color to his life.

Contingency and apples
In his works, in particular in “The Ghost's Dilemma” and “An Essay on the Necessity of Contingency,” Quentin Meillassoux focused on contingency, one of the most important concepts for modern humanitarian thought and philosophy as well, but most importantly, Meillassoux spoke about the fact that for further ontological research it is necessary to question the necessity of natural laws.

New Russian prose (2)
Five thoughts on Dmitry Zakharov’s novel “The Middle Edda” 1. I liked the “Middle Edda” more than other books in this wave of “processing news into a novel” for a strange reason. All these books are very visual, you can easily imagine them as a film or series, but I imagined Edda as a comedy.

Ippolit Sokolov - unrecognized rebellion
Ippolit Sokolov is a personality quite rarely mentioned among poets of the early 20th century. In various sources he is listed as a film expert, a screenwriter (which is quite doubtful, given his screenwriting track record), a teacher, and, last but not least, a poet. Sokolov was born in 1902, attended Bryusov’s poetry lessons, for example. At the age of 17, he became very accustomed to the Imagists, to the point that Sesenin and Mariengof even pushed him to join their ranks.
