The head of the Russian Ministry of Education, Olga Vasilyeva, said that if nothing is done, the staff shortage of teachers in Russian schools will exceed 188 thousand people. “Today, teachers aged 20-25 years make up 5.5% [of the total number of teachers]. This figure will not change by 2024; moreover, it will increase. And by 2029, in the general education system of the Russian Federation, the shortage of subject teachers will be 188,700 people,” Interfax quotes Vasilyeva.
