The price of lunch at McDonald's in Venezuela in March exceeded the minimum wage
Due to hyperinflation in March 2019, the Happy Meal — a McDonald's set meal with a toy included — cost more than the minimum monthly wage, writes Business Insider . The cost of one set was 18,500 Venezuelan bolívares ($3.50). The authorities have since raised the minimum wage to 40,000 bolivars ($7.70), but the country's massive economic crisis continues. Since 2013, the bolivar has lost up to 99% of its value. Inflation at the end of last year amounted to almost 1,700,000%.
