Over the year, the poverty level in Russia increased to 12.7% of the population
After raising the subsistence level, 18.6 million Russians, or 12.7% of the population, remain in black poverty, Rosstat calculated. A year ago, this figure was 12.5% of the population, reminds RBC. The increase in poverty year-on-year is due to the fact that the cost of living in the second quarter of 2019 increased by 7.1%, to 11,185 rubles, Rosstat explained, although inflation rose only by 5%.
