Electricity prices in Europe soar to multi-year records
Electricity prices in Europe have risen sharply: in the UK, the price per megawatt-hour has risen almost sevenfold in a year, to a record since 1999, write the WSJ and the Financial Times . Electricity prices jumped in France, the Netherlands and Germany. In the latter, the FT noted, the wholesale price of electricity for delivery early next year reached 90 euros per megawatt hour (about $106), nearly double the price at the beginning of the year.
