The bottleneck of UK-Russian illicit trade relations
Since the end of 2022, the UK has had a trade surplus with the Russian Federation for the first time in decades. This means that the UK sends more goods to Russia than it receives from it. This is explained by a significant decrease in the number of foreign trade transactions after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and, first of all, a reduction in the supply of energy resources and jewelry to the UK.
