Results of the 2016 elections: four parties, strengthening of United Russia, low turnout, no surprises in single-mandate seats
On September 19, the final counting of votes for parties elected to the State Duma will be completed, but the main alignment is already known and will change only by hundredths of a percent. According to Putin and Medvedev, the election result is “very good” for United Russia: the party has strengthened its presence in the Duma, and other factions have been reduced. Otherwise, the elections showed that Russians are not as keen on the idea of directly electing their representatives as before.
