03/02/2010 – Trinity option – Science
The systemic crisis of Russian science is inseparable from the problem of “brain drain”. For young Russian scientists, their entire active scientific life passed against the backdrop of these processes. Not surprisingly, the logic connecting the crisis and the leak began to blur.

Russian Orthodox Church as a flagship of modernization
Dear editors! I look with disappointment at the results of our team’s performance at the Olympic Games in Vancouver. As usual, we are hindered by biased judging and other machinations of the world behind the scenes. But you can’t always blame everything on them. Let’s take the same hockey: the Canadians tore ours like Tuzik tore a hot water bottle, and there’s nothing you can do about it. And why all?

About the benefits of freaks
Rice. M. Smagina In modern medicine, a curious theory of excessive hygiene is seriously considered. Children growing in the sterile conditions of modern apartments more often suffer from autoimmune diseases than children born in rural mud. Yes, because of dirt, children sometimes get sick and sometimes die, but on average they have better immunity in the hospital, and it works more correctly. Why am I?

Cassini photographed Saturn's moons hidden behind their rings
NASA's Cassini space probe took another beautiful photo. It depicts the satellites of Saturn - Rhea and Janus. However, small Janus (111 km) is not easy to see in this photo - in it it is located between the rings and large Rhea (1528 km). The photo was taken on November 11, 2009, but, as usual, was published some time later. A.P.

Electric conversation of bacteria
Osading current measurement Initially, Lars Peter Nielsen and colleagues were not going to study the interaction of bacteria with each other. Researchers were interested in the lower part of the deposits of microorganisms that use hydrogen sulfide as a source of energy. Specialists got samples of deposits from the bay and, after the completion of the experiments, left the flasks with them on the table.

Let all Edelweiss bloom? Conversation about Friches and Frity
Recently, views on the problem of pseudoscience in our society began to change markedly. Previously, in such conversations, the image of a harmless loner arose first of all, an eccentric-beadrer not from this world, who with rare stubbornness bursts on the locked doors, spends all his time, personal savings and health on somednered to make peace. Yes, he can be sincerely mistaken (and then it seems almost crazy), and it may really make an incredible brilliant discovery that is ahead of his time.

The worst of depreciation
A science journalist cannot be an intelligent person. Firstly, he is a journalist, i.e. forced to be persistent. He prevents decent people from doing their job, demanding some stupid interviews from them - unfortunately, it is often perceived this way; everyone recognizes the need for the existence of the press in theory, but in practice no one wants to change their plans for the sake of somehow informing the public. Secondly, it is scientific.

Evolution skipping
One of the cornerstones of the modern theory of evolution is the idea of its graduality. In accordance with it, the selection consistently fixes mutations, each of which slightly affects the phenotype. Step by step, this process leads to the emergence of complex adaptations and a variety of species. The theory says that in order for such a step -by -step evolution to take place, the adaptability of each mutation or at least its neutrality is necessary.

Will serf scientists save us?
The systemic crisis of Russian science is inseparable from the problem of “brain drain”. For young Russian scientists, their entire active scientific life passed against the backdrop of these processes. Not surprisingly, the logic connecting the crisis and the leak began to blur. Many people have the impression that brain drain is one of the causes and not a consequence of crisis phenomena.
