In the 47th issue of TrV-Nauka, we started a conversation about doctoral dissertations: are they needed now in Russia, or is it an atavism; Do they need to be canceled, and if necessary, then immediately or gradually? The questions were asked to young scientists who are just about to defend their defense. Now similar questions are being answered by grandees whose doctorate defenses are already a thing of the past. 1. What do you think doctoral dissertations and degrees are for? 2.

On February 26, the record “Freedom of Thought” was recorded on the fifth channel dedicated to the reform of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
