G. Webb. Fuss with sacred allowances, or administrative evidence of God's being
The first European universities (Bologna, Oxford and Paris) arose in the XI-XII centuries, and monastery schools served as a prototype. Professors and students were perceived as a kind of spiritual estate, teachers were forbidden to combine marriage bonds, students wore characteristic clothes - mantles and hats. The knowledge that the medieval university supplied graduates, of course, was the most loser in that era - first of all, theology, jurisprudence and medicine.

People involved in science write in their online diaries on topics they know and love. Chemists - about chemistry, biologists - about biology, astronomers - well, you get the idea. Reading such blogs is terribly interesting: usually their authors talk about some new discovery or branch of their science in simple language, with many examples.

Book
Summer, vacation period. What books do researchers and university professors take with them on vacation? We are publishing a story about new book releases from Maria Yudkevich, Director of Academic Development at the State University Higher School of Economics. Apparently I'm getting old. When I get to the bookstore Barnes and Noble or Borders, I no longer want to buy up half the store. Finally, all this can now be ordered through Alibris.

Do Russians believe in God?
The exact number of believers and non-believers in Russians is a mystery. An analysis of surveys from Russia's three leading poll centers showed that their results vary over a fairly wide range. Thus, according to a survey by VTsIOM dated March 30, 2010, 75% of Russians called themselves followers of Orthodoxy (in 2009 there were 70%). At the same time, the share of non-believing respondents fell by half compared to 2006 (from 16 to 8%).
