2011 is a turning point in the implementation of the Federal target program “Scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel of innovative Russia”, designed for 2009-2013: this year should be the last of three years of holding mass competitions - for scientific and educational centers, groups under guidance of doctors and candidates of science, for graduate students and young candidates of science (events 1.1.-1.3.).

Dear editors! I am writing to my favorite newspaper on a big holiday - Defender of the Fatherland Day. Although, according to established tradition, February 23 is often considered a men's holiday in general, it is still primarily a holiday of those who, at the call of the party, are ready to defend our Motherland with arms in hand. I have respected military men since childhood, although I did not follow the military line myself.

Recently I needed to rummage through about twenty websites on energy. There, naturally, all positions of any significance are occupied by men. I wouldn’t have paid attention to this if it weren’t for the beauty contest that energy workers recently held. They have girls on their websites, but they are all on the competition banner, in dresses, with arched backs and painted eyes.

On February 14, the STARDUST spacecraft (translated - “Star dust”) took the flight near the core of Tempel Cometa 1 and handed it to Earth 122 of its images (including 72 - high resolution). The smallest distance from the nucleus was ~ 178 km. In addition, the apparatus devices measured coma parameters. The total amount of data obtained was 468 MB.

American scientists have determined the genome sequence of the parasitic roundworm (nematode) Trichinella spiralis , the causative agent of trichinosis.
