Gazprombank reduced profit in Q1 by 63%
Russia's third-largest bank, Gazprombank , saw its net profit (under IFRS) fall by 63.4% to 12.3 billion rubles in the first quarter of 2012. This was an expected decline - last year the bank received a high one-time income from the sale of shares and a number of large transactions, earning 33.5 billion rubles. The bank's net interest income decreased by 14% to 12.3 billion rubles, the net interest margin lost 1.1 percentage points, falling to 2.5%.

US retail sales fell 0.2% in May
U.S. retail sales fell 0.2 percent in May from the previous month, according to the Commerce Department. Analysts polled by Bloomberg had also forecast a 0.2 percent decline. According to the revised data, retail sales fell 0.2 percent in April, rather than the 0.1 percent increase previously reported. This marks the second straight month of decline in U.S. retail sales. Excluding autos, retail sales fell 0.4 percent last month, while analysts had forecast no change.
