Hedge Fund SAC Pleads Guilty to Insider Trading, Will Pay Record $1.8 Billion Fine
Steven A. Cohen's hedge fund SAC Capital Advisors LP pleaded guilty Monday to securities fraud in a crucial insider trading case for the future of markets and agreed to pay a record $1.8 billion fine, The Wall Street Journal reports. In addition, the New York attorney general's office announced that SAC will cease its investment consulting activities. As part of the criminal investigation, SAC will pay $1.2 billion to the US Treasury, which is generally in line with market expectations.

A photograph and personal data of the founder of the development company Potok (former Mirax Group) Sergei Polonsky appeared in the "Wanted" section of the Interpol website . It also states that Polonsky is accused of fraud on an especially large scale. "If you have any information, please contact us," the Interpol website says. In August, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow placed Polonsky on the international wanted list.

Acer CEO Resigns Over Mounting Losses
The world's fourth-largest computer maker, Taiwan's Acer, posted a net loss of NT$13.12 billion ($446 million), worse than analysts had forecast. Acer also announced Tuesday that it would replace J.T. Wang as its CEO, with company president Jim Wong taking over. The company also plans to save about $100 million in operating expenses annually starting in 2014 by laying off 7 percent of its workforce.
