The Central Bank will help banks meet the most difficult standard
The Central Bank approved credit lines worth about 600 billion rubles to a number of systemically important banks. to comply with the short-term liquidity ratio (LCR, see inset), Central Bank Chairman Elvira Nabiullina said in an interview with Reuters. “We will be ready to consider the issue of providing [such] credit lines to other banks if they contact us,” she added. The short-term liquidity standard came into force this year.

France demands €1.6 billion from Google
The French tax authority has demanded that the American company Google pay 1.6 billion euros, AFP reported. The matter concerns compensation for Google's tax debt to the French treasury. Earlier, in June 2011, the French police conducted several searches in the Paris office of the Californian company as part of this case. The French Finance Ministry refused to confirm these figures.

Clarkson agrees to pay compensation to BBC producer beaten up a year ago
Former BBC Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has apologised to the producer he attacked a year ago and then lost his contract with the television company after the incident. According to the BBC, he said he wanted to publicly apologise again to Oisin Tymon for the incident itself and its consequences, and reiterate that Tymon was completely innocent of what happened. According to the corporation, he agreed to pay the offended producer £100,000 in compensation.
