Sakharov did not count on quick results
Today Andrei Sakharov would have turned 80 years old. This date is celebrated mainly only by human rights activists. If Sakharov's anniversary were celebrated as a state holiday, there would, in my opinion, be too much hypocrisy. It is much more important to know what he did and how he thought, rather than formal worship. The figure of Sakharov is of great interest; he is often called one of the most influential and positive people of the 20th century.
