In Iraq, governors are being blown up and imams are being arrested.
Over the past 24 hours, there have been 28 attacks on Americans and Iraqis collaborating with them. A mine exploded near the car of Abdullah Al-Jiburi, the governor of Diyala province. The official was not injured. In Fallujah, the Americans arrested the imam of the central mosque, Jamal Nazzal. The arrest, which involved the use of attack helicopters, resembled an army operation. Nazzal in his sermons called on Iraqis to avoid any contact with coalition forces.
