The Housewife Who Changed America
On Friday, the symbol of American feminism, Betty Frieden (pictured) , died in the United States on her eighty-fifth birthday. World fame came to her after the release in 1963 of her first book, “The Feminine Mystique,” which became a manifesto of the modern movement for women’s rights. In it, she broke the ban on discussing “women’s issues” in American society, thereby forever changing its usual way of life. However, the list of her achievements is not limited to one book.
