The sharp rise in inflation in 2007 worsened Russians' economic expectations From the point of view of socio-economic development of Russia, the past year was one of the best, if not the best, in the entire post-Soviet history. The growth rates of GDP, industrial production, and especially investment pleased both officials and economists. The only let down was inflation , which amounted to 11.9%.
