Yesterday, 53-year-old career diplomat Andrei Nesterenko took up his duties as the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry and director of its Department of Information and Press (DIP). Until recently, he was the Russian ambassador to Cyprus. Mr. Nesterenko entered the diplomatic path in 1977 after graduating from the Faculty of International Economic Relations of the MGIMO University of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
