Armen Dzhigarkhanyan was born in Yerevan. Actor, director. The main “bandit” of Soviet and Russian cinema.
The father abandoned the family a month after the birth of his son. Mother worked in the Council of Ministers of Armenia and did not miss a single performance in local theaters.
He studied at a Russian school. After failing the exams at GITIS, he returned home and worked as an assistant cameraman at a film studio.
At 23 he graduated from the Yerevan Theater Institute. He played in the local drama theater.
He became famous at 30, playing a physicist in the film “Hello, it's me!”
During his film career, he performed, according to various sources, from 250 to 400 roles. The most famous are Staff Captain Ovechkin in “New Adventures of the Elusive”, “Humpbacked” in “The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed” (according to his sister, the image of the gang leader was “exactly” copied from his father), Gurgen in “Gangster” Petersburg".
He has voiced many cartoons (the Wolf from “Once upon a time there was a dog” says in his voice: “You come in if anything happens”).
At the same time he was the “king of the episode”: he played military men, foremen, judges, lackeys and managers.
I can’t help it - I really love seeing myself on screen

Nostalgia is a made-up feeling. When a person feels good, he is happy everywhere, and if he feels bad, then either at home or in a foreign land - everything is the same
In 2001 he signed a letter in defense of NTV. In 2012, he starred in a campaign video in support of Putin. In 2014 he condemned the annexation of Crimea.
