On the night of July 31, in the Begunitsy village in the Leningrad region, seven Chinese workers were beaten and robbed. At 3 a.m. that night three attackers broke into a vocational school where the workers lived, and cruely beat them up and robbed them of 6,800 rubles (about ┬180), six cell phones, 18 pairs of shoes, 18 pairs of jeans, and 6 jackets.

On August 20, 2008, Oleg Sym, a Russian national of Korean origin and student of the Tula State University, was beaten. According to the victim, he was approached at the bus stop by one man with his head shaved, who tried to provoke a fight. When Sym tried to run away, five or six more men attacked him. The attack was very rapid: after striking Sym several times with the emergency hammer available in busses for breaking the windows in case of an accident, the attackers ran away.
