San Diego. Memory of Maradona, the artist of the eternal baroque
Nine days ago, Diego Armando Maradon died in Buenos Aires at the 61st year of his life. Even during his lifetime, he appeared in the first three of the greatest players in football in history, moving freely on this pedestal along with Pele and Leo Messi, depending on who and at what point of time and space at this podium looks.

Sergey Karyakin: "If there is hatred, then it is only to herself"
The youngest grandmaster in the world Sergey Karjakin, after 12 parties and a tie-break, lost the championship rank of Norwegian Magnus Carlsen. But the match itself, it seems, returned the chess to be its former tension and intensity. While Carlsen lost his temper, left the press conference and demonstrated public emotions, Karjakin behaved with restraint.

Pups of the Earth. Ramzan Kadyrov and Challenge
The freshest scandal about the battles of the children of Ramzan Kadyrov on the air at first glance seems to be the next episode of the news series about the construction of a caliphate in Russia. Until now, any new resonance message about the life and morals of the state of Chechnya in the most predictable way shared the participants in the controversy. This dispute is not about the about “good” and “bad”.

War for ethics: how children judge immoral fathers
Pale citizen The dark is already evening, a car rushes along the deserted road. Having looked at him, an elderly man goes to a lonely telephone booth and informs the police about the offense. This scene, of course, is never seen by anyone, modeled by the work of the imagination as a movie camera, for a very long time served the Russians with a reliable allegory of the West. The disappointed wanderer in amazement recognized the same scoop, informational.

The young lady and the bully
The Russian operation in Syria is an act of desperate passion for Europe. Recently I was in Baku for reconnaissance purposes. About a possible job there. Apparently, nothing will work out with work, but I don’t regret these four days of my life at all. Firstly, I heard about Baku as perhaps the most complete Russian-speaking city of Soviet civilization in terms of urban life.

Ban me gently: how Russia became an ideal platform for artists
Photo by Alexander Kryazhev / RIA Novosti It’s unpleasant that the authorities snap at the artist and lecture him. But it's a thousand times worse when this doesn't happen at all. Young theater director Timofey Kulyabin is staging Richard Wagner's opera Tannhäuser in Novosibirsk. The stage action outrages the religious feelings of the orthodox community of the city.

Ban me tenderly
Modern Russia as an ideal platform for an artist. Young theater director Timofey Kulyabin is staging Richard Wagner's opera Tannhäuser in Novosibirsk. The stage action outrages the religious feelings of the orthodox community of the city. The prosecutor's office opens a case on “deliberate public desecration of religious and liturgical literature and objects of veneration,” but soon drops it.

Lord my designer
Ruslan Shamukov / TASS What language to speak to a new medieval person There is a Naval Cathedral in Kronstadt, our main naval base in the Baltic. Conceived as a lighthouse temple, it became the last large-scale religious construction project of the Russian Empire. Under the Bolsheviks, the Naval Cathedral, as usual, quickly became a warehouse, then a half-dead House of Culture with a cinema.

Broken staples: the gay marriage law as a triumph of conservatism
REUTERS/Elijah Nouvelage The legalization of gay marriage reveals the eternal instinct of the Euro-Atlantic world to rationalize the obviously irrational In old Soviet brochures on sexual life, homosexuality is labeled as a perverse, that is, unnatural, attraction of man to man. It is now impossible to read these brochures without laughing, but the modern Russian discussion about homosexuality has acquired all the features of perversion.

American gay marriage law as a triumph of conservatism. In old Soviet brochures on sexual life, homosexuality is labeled as a perverse, that is, unnatural, attraction of man to man. Project Novorossiya: remake as a weapon of mass destruction in Russia
photo TASS/Ilya Pitalev Why do those who teach to love the Motherland, preserve it and remember, do not know, understand and do not love their Motherland? The route from St. Petersburg to Moscow is not the oldest in Russia and is still not the most important in a practical sense. There are more important roads, but none come close to such glory.
