This entails a change in the system of organization of medical care, which is reflected in structural changes. Naturally, those hundred beds that were needed 10-20 years ago are not needed now. Not to mention the development of surgical technologies, when during endoscopic operations, the patient can be discharged on the second day. Therefore, the duration of treatment - 14, 16, 20 days - was reduced to 13.5 (this is currently the average duration of treatment in the Russian Federation). This year, the birth rate for the first time since 1996 has become as high as possible - 11 people per thousand inhabitants. Mortality remains at a landmark indicator for us - less than 20 people per thousand of the population. It's an outrageous lot. Against the background of the Russian Federation, there is nothing to boast about here, but over the past two or three years this figure has begun to decline. Moreover, for significant reasons, such as cardiovascular disease. From this year, the medical examination of the population begins. It will be incredibly difficult for us, because the personnel that we have are sorely lacking. It is necessary to direct all the efforts of the entire industry, the entire population to prevention, to early diagnosis. Unfortunately, it is impossible to “buy” medical specialists under the healthcare modernization program. Distribution is not and is not expected. Now there is literally a competition between regions who can attract a specialist to work. I met with the rectors of many medical universities, told the students what the region can offer them in material, professional and human terms. We hope that this work will not go away like water in the sand.

The regional budget has allocated 10 million rubles to compensate for losses from suburban transportation. However, even after the adoption of an amendment to the budget in April, this amount is able to cover only half of the losses of the suburban passenger company (according to the calculations of the railroad, 140 million rubles are required to fully compensate them). By decision of the regional administration, instead of canceled trains, where possible, buses will be assigned. Which is not convenient for all residents of the region, in particular, for privileged categories. On the section Velikie Luki - Sebezh, parallel to which there is a highway with buses running along it at intervals of one hour, the train has been saved. But in general, the situation with suburban transportation in the Pskov region is really so sad that it seems impossible to do without the intervention of the country's government.
