Representatives of the administration, law enforcement agencies, public and clergy of the Samara region discussed the possibility of a joint fight against “pseudo-religious extremism”

On April 11, Tolyatti hosted a round table "Interaction between authorities and religious organizations in achieving social harmony and preserving national spiritual traditions", which was attended by representatives of the regional administration, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation and the Internal Affairs Directorate for the Samara Region, religious scholars, Orthodox and Muslim clergymen . The meeting participants discussed the project of state-confessional relations and expressed concern about the activities of "various pseudo-religious sects", referring to the experience of European countries, where the activities of NRMs are limited by law. According to the participants of the round table, "pseudo-religious extremism" can be resisted only by joint efforts of the state authorities and "traditional for the country" religious associations. As a result of the meeting, an appeal to the federal government was adopted.
