And yet they are together! True, they are not so different, although one claims that freedom is better than not free, and the other is that "the democracy of the Chuchhey type is the most democratic democracy in the world." They are found the second time over the past ten years, and both meetings were protocol in nature. No important decisions were made, the contracts were not signed. We sat, shook, made each other pleasantly.
The last meeting of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and the great leader of North Korea Kim Jong Ira took place on August 24 in Ulan-Ude and lasted 2 hours 10 minutes. In addition to common words on the website of the Russian president, no details. Information merged into the press that negotiations were conducted about laying through the DPRK of the Russian gas pipeline and nuclear security. These negotiations are as unsuccessful as unsuccessful. Moscow expects legal guarantees for its project, pretending to be such guarantees from the North Korean regime.
The meeting is important for Medvedev and Kim Jong Ira in itself, regardless of the results. It is important to show Pyongyan to his own people, as the northern neighbor loves the great leader, how amazing respect he enjoys in Russia. At the same time, hinting to the West that not everything is lost and it is quite possible to negotiate with the DPRK - about investments, about nuclear security. Medvedev, in turn, is important to show Western partners that only Moscow can effectively speak with North Korea and, in this sense, Russia is an important international player who should not neglect. In short, the game of ambitions on both sides.
Among other things, the political model of the DPRK in Russia appears to some. No wonder in Russia a model of its special democracy is worked out. As Kim Jong Ir about his own, also in its own way of sovereign democracy, “firstly, thanks to this democracy, all the decisions of the great leader can be implemented, and secondly, the population has confidence that the situation in the country depends on them, because we are a people's republic. And what great leader will make a decision that contradicts the interests of its people? None! Therefore, they receive all the best before he finds out about existence This is the best ... ".
Brilliant logic! It seems that we have other politicians to add a little sculpting to Russian reality - one party, one strong national leader, universal adoration, no real elections and other democratic nonsense. Everything is like their, only do not touch the gas, only do not interfere with gas pipelines!
How insolvent are the construction plans of the gas pipeline through North Korea to the southern, Korean side showed precisely during the visit of Kim Jong Ira. On the eve of the meeting in Ulan-Ude, the North Korean authorities ordered South Korean personnel to leave the Kymansan resort zone in joint administration for 72 hours. The money in this project was invested in Hyundai Asan - probably also under some kind of reliable, as it seemed, guarantees.
It seems that not only in the West, but also in Russia they have already forgotten what the word is worth the communist. This is the time to recall how in 1994 the DPRK signed an agreement with the United States, which refused to develop nuclear weapons in exchange for food assistance and technical support in the development of a peaceful atom. Getting everything necessary, the DPRK, however, did not stop the development of nuclear weapons, and then completely left the contract unilaterally.
Even more frankly, Kim Jong Il was joked at President Putin, who, after his visit to Pyongyang in 2000, announced that the DPRK no longer posed an international threat, since Kim Jong Ir had solemnly promised him to turn the missile program and no longer conduct new tests of missiles. Immediately after Putin’s statement, Kim Jong Ir disavowed his words, announcing that he was joking.
Apparently, the DPRK is also in no hurry to pay off the debt to Russia, which is today $ 11 billion. All these North Korean jokes do not prevent Russia from planning the construction of the gas pipeline. Perhaps also jokingly.
Whoever really has no jokes is the people of North Korea, suffering not only from severe repressions, but periodically from natural disasters and constantly from hunger - the eternal companion of socialism. A few days ago, the United States announced the humanitarian aid of North Korea at $ 900 thousand, and Russia delivered 50 thousand tons of wheat there. However, there is actually no hope that help will come to those in need. Usually everything falls into the hands of the highest party officials and the generals who are fattening, while ordinary Koreans die of hunger - and this is not hyperbole, really die. Many international and non -governmental organizations tried to establish food supplies to the Knowledge in the DPRK - it is useless. At one time, the International Action Against Hunger ("action against hunger"), which for two years, supplied food to the DPRK, was outraged that the authorities did not allow them to open field kitchens and distribute products directly to children dying of hunger. Everything was supposed to enter the authorities of the Communist Party and the state. “Children are cut off from any help channels and doomed to certain death,” the Action Against Hunger stated and closed her mission to the DPRK.
The dramatic fate of the Koreans in the DPRK is not visible to the West. These are not Palestinians in Gaza, exempted from work thanks to humanitarian assistance provided by him for decades. The DPRK is such a closed country, so tough there is a totalitarian system that it is not necessary to hope for military resistance from the inside, just as it happened in Libya. Especially on the "velvet" revolution. The only thing that the people of North Korea can save is humanitarian intervention. The international community is not entitled to continue to endure the unpunished extermination of the communists of the people in North Korea. Links to sovereignty are insolvent. Human rights violations are not an internal business of the country - this is recognized and recorded in international law. The dictators must help "leave". And at least not support their friendly participation, as Russia does now.
