He looked at the broadcast of the meeting of the “round table on December 12” and once again convinced that he had completely correctly refused to participate in it. It seems to me that the participants in the round table themselves understand their absolute failure, but cannot admit it. They all sin on a society that does not understand and does not accept them; to power, which does not allow them to step a step; for many external circumstances.
Only at themselves they do not even try to look from the side. They pretend that this society does not accept the ideas of liberalism. Otherwise, it will be necessary to admit that society does not accept the liberals themselves. And this is insulting to admit.
The closest to the diagnosis was Leonid Gozman, although the treatment of the problem, given some sad facts of his biography, I would not entrust him. And the closest to something productive was Alexander Ryklin, although he did not finish everything to the end.
Yes, there is a problem of self -identification. What is the opposition today? Who is in it and why? Ryklin raised the question that the participants in the round table chose not to answer. The answer, meanwhile, is simple and tough. Today's opposition is incompetent due to the banal reason - political cowardice. Yes, in fact, and not only political.
The “opposition representatives, public figures and the intelligentsia” gathered at the meeting would like to sound loudly, but do not dare to raise their voice. They see all problems perfectly, but they do not have enough spirit to be free people. They are not ready for the sake of freedom to risk their well -being. This was very clearly demonstrated by a short dialogue between the presenter of the meeting Nikolai Svanidze and Alexander Ryklin, who spoke out against participation in imitation of the elections.
Svanidze: I only have a question: here, say, it is useless to go to the polls. It is forbidden to go to the street. Here I have the main, in fact, the question that we are discussing today: where to go?
Ryklin: The word "prohibited" should disappear from our vocabulary.
Svanidze: Excuse me, there is a law. We like it or do not like it, but if you go out, they will tie it. You can not accept [this law], but those who tie it accept it.
Voice from the audience: tie, so tie.
Svanidze: Well, wonderful! Well, what's next? Because all ... because we ... let's now build in the ranks, go to Pushkinskaya Square and say, "Long live the constitution." How long are we simple there?
Ryklin: Let's go. I am “for”.
The discussion ended on this, because the vast majority of the speakers are easily ready to see themselves as wise mentors and political leaders, but not in the role of “tied” on Pushkinskaya Square!
A significant part of the audience was included earlier or is now included in various deliberate bodies under the federal government - the Presidential Council for Human Rights, the Councils at the Ministry, the Public Chamber and other indecency. However, they want to look like an opposition and represent the "interests of citizens standing for a European choice." And they are very surprised that the public does not understand them.
