The second world meeting of the human fraternity, in which the Seminar of the Nobel Prize laureates will be held on May 11 in Rome in Rome, the Vatican Fratelli Tutti Foundation (“All Brothers” - the expression of St. Francis of the Assisian, which Pope Francis used as a heading of his “programmatic” social encyclical). The main task of the meeting and the seminar is to search for a “creative solution” about ways to terminate hostilities in Ukraine, a solution corresponding to the “peaceful plan of Pope Francis”. Recently, he once again became a candidate for receiving the Nobel Prize of the World: Dag Inge Ulstin nominated the Pope, the influential Norwegian politician. Earlier, Francis had already nominated for this prize four times, but each time the Nobel Committee preferred other candidates. Throughout history, only two Catholic figures were awarded the Nobel Prize of the World: Mother Teresa in 1979 and a bishop of Eastern Timor Carlush Belu in 1996.
According to the results of the first world meeting held by the Fratelli Tutti Foundation on June 10 last year, the group of Nobel laureates signed a declaration of the human brotherhood, where there are such words: “Together with Pope Francis, we want to confirm that genuine reconciliation does not arise as a result of conflict, but overcomes the conflict through dialogue and open, honest and patient negotiations.” Under the document, in particular, the signature of Maria of the RESS, the Philippine journalist and human rights activist, who received the Nobel Prize of the World 2021, together with the editor -in -chief of Novaya Gazeta Dmitry Muratov. As the Novo-Europe was told in the fund, in the world meeting this year it is planned to participate in Muratov himself, who is expected in the Vatican with particular interest.
May events in Rome are considered by the leadership of the Catholic Church as a kind of alternative to the International Conference on Peaceful Settlement in Ukraine, which will be held on June 20-24 in the Swiss Burgentock.
The Fratelli Tutti Foundation has a special mandate that allows it to take on quite delicate functions. On the one hand, he was personally established by his dad and is headed by his General Vicar in the city-state Vatican Cardinal Mauro Gambetti. On the other hand, he accumulates the funds of private donors who are spent on creating new sites to promote Francis’s foreign policy initiatives bypassing the Vatican Bureaucracy and without the direct participation of the Vatican state. Peacekeeping meetings in Rome or in the territory of states directly involved in military operations are among the initiatives of this kind.
Despite the criticism of the position of the head of the Russian Orthodox Church in relation to the “Svo”, with which Francis spoke , dad periodically expresses the desire to meet with Cyril. Against this background, there are various rumors like the April Fools in the Minsk Dialog initiative , affiliated with the Lukashenko regime, that Francis and Cyril can meet this summer in Mogilev. Most analysts agreed that such a meeting is unlikely, but the stuffing itself organically fits organically into the tactics of the Belarusian dictator to nominate himself as an intermediary between Putin and Zelensky and to lure the pope in Belarus.
After a meeting with Putin in Moscow, on April 11, Lukashenko said: “If you need to help and wedge in this conversation <Moscow and Kyiv, we can help in this regard. And I see no sense to talk to them to talk to them. ”

At the same time, in recent years, Lukashenko visited the Vatican twice and met with dads Benedict XVI and Francis. Almost annually, he invites the pontiff to visit the “Orthodox Catholic” Belarus. But if an ordinary visit at the invitation of the dictator is impossible: for all his extraordinary, Francis is unlikely to strengthen Lukashenko’s legitimacy for no reason - the use of Belarus as a “only possible” European platform for the meeting of the pope and the patriarch is an option that the Holy Thron is ready to discuss. Another thing is that the radicalization of the rhetoric of the Russian Orthodox Church, whose representatives, led by the Patriarch, called on at the recent Congress of the World Russian People’s Cathedral to increase the degree of “Svo” to the degree of “Holy War”, seriously complicates the preparation of such a meeting. With all the trepidation of Francis in front of Russian culture, such a rhetoric is definitely not to his liking.
An even more serious problem is that the dad is now not ready to consider as an intermediary in Kyiv. For a long time there was a perplexity of his enthusiasm for "great Russian culture"
And the allegations that people who studied at the Dostoevsky school are not able to arrange what was in Buch or Mariupol. The words of the pope from an interview with the Swiss television and radio company RSI that the losing side should have the “courage of the White Flag” were especially dramatic in Ukraine. The Ambassador of Ukraine under the Holy Throna Andrei Yurash in response reminded Pope: “Ukraine is a victim. This is a state that cannot in any case accept the model of this raising of the “white flag”, because it is for us a question of life and death, our identity. ”
The editor-in-chief of the magazine Inside the Vatican Dr. Robert Moganikhan retold a fragment of a letter from Pope Francis on April 9 to his informal ambassador in Moscow, the head of the World Union of Old Believers Leonid Sevastyanov. Pontiff makes it clear that the call of the “white flag” refers to both sides, since its concept is based on the impossibility of reaching a military way. A military victory, once said dad, "is a defeat, because it gives rise to a new chain of conflicts and contradictions." Based on this concept, he urges the parties to resume the Istanbul negotiation process “from the place in which it was interrupted” at the end of March 2022.

Accepting a delegation of Kazakhstani politicians and religious figures in the Vatican on April 4, Francis once again hinted at his anti -Western position, which has deep Latin American roots: “The rhetoric of inciting war is again in fashion, and this is disgusting. At a time when the words of hatred are spread, people die in cruel conflicts. But we are designed to talk about peace, dream of peace, filling the creativity and specific expectations of the world. ”
The New-European source in the Vatican said that the dad’s special representative of the peaceful settlement in Ukraine Cardinal Matteo Dzuppie and the Fratelli Tutti Foundation make efforts to ensure that the new “Vatican Peace Process” began with the meeting through the mediation of the Ukrainian representative Mikhail Podolyak and the assistant of the President of the Russian Federation on the President of the Russian Federation for Yuri Ushakov. In Moscow and Kyiv, they have not yet confirmed that they received invitations of this kind, but Cardinal Dzuppy really visited both capitals and talked, including with the above representatives. According to Leonid Sevastyanov, quoted by the editor -in -chief of the Inside This kind of “participation” of the pigeon apostles of Christianity, in his opinion, will contribute to overcoming the total crisis of trust between Russia and Ukraine (and the West as a whole), which has developed in recent years.
Vatican sources recognize a certain similarity of the papal peaceful plan (it has never been made public, and we can judge it only by separate details announced by Francis itself) with Chinese, published in February 2023.
In particular, both planes recognize the unacceptability for Russia of the idea of expanding NATO, and also provide for the construction of a joint security system along the Europe - Russia -China axis. The deputy envoy of China in the UN Security Council Dai Bin, speaking at the Council of People's Commissars on April 11, practically repeated the formula of Francis: “There are no winners in conflicts and wars, dialogue and negotiations are the only real exit from the Ukrainian crisis.” Earlier, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Zakharova claimed, with reference to Putin, that Chinese proposals were “consonant with Russian approaches”, and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Vatican Ivan Soltanovsky assured that “Russia greets the initiatives of the Pope, aimed at achieving peace in Ukraine”.
As the forces and means exhausted by the direct participants in hostilities and the “fatigue” of the world community, efforts are growing to “force the parties” to peace negotiations. But today, the positions of the West, China or Turkey regarding the starting positions for such negotiations are very different - often diametrically. The Vatican, relying on his specific status and religious influence, tries to balance these positions, find some compromise. But did he himself become a victim of the “crisis of trust”, which Pope Francis so often says, at least from the point of view of Ukraine?
