The founding conference of the Russian Evangelical Alliance completed its work in the Moscow region

On March 31 - April 2, the founding conference of the Russian Evangelical Alliance was held in the Moscow region with the participation of representatives of the Baptist, Pentecostal, Lutheran and United Methodist churches.

The conference participants see the task of the alliance as "achieving unity among Christians for witness, so that the world will know Christ." The activities of the alliance involve holding joint prayers, joint Bible study, as well as joint work in social programs and legal support for members of the alliance.

Lawyer Ekaterina Smyslova stressed: "The authorities often treat us Protestants as irresponsible groups formed as a result of the missionary efforts of foreigners. If now they notice that we are relatives and speak out in unity, then this will improve our reputation in the eyes of society."

However, the charter of the new organization presented to the delegates was not adopted. Due to the numerous amendments made to it during the conference, it was decided to postpone its adoption for a year - until the next conference.
