The Joint Committee for the Defense of Jews in the Former USSR made a statement regarding the situation with the textbook by A.V. Borodina

On June 4, the Joint Committee for the Defense of Jews in the former USSR issued a statement regarding the decision of the Coordinating Council for Cooperation between the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the MP ROC to recommend the second edition of the textbook by A.V. Borodina "Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture" as a textbook for general education and Sunday schools. According to the Committee, in this updated edition "as in the previous version of 2002, insulting and derogatory attacks against Judaism and the Jewish people are retained, repeating medieval accusations of spiritual and religious inferiority and "deicide". The authors of the statement note that the textbook (judging by published fragments ) contains "theses of clerical anti-Semitism", which "were the basis for the monstrous persecution of the Jewish people and those who professed Judaism for a thousand and a half years. Millions of people became victims of these persecutions.

It is well known that the basis of all racism is the thesis of the inseparable connection of the spiritual and moral qualities of a person with his ethnic origin and religion. It is on this racist thesis that the fragments of the textbook "Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture" are based, devoted to the traditions associated with the emergence of Christianity.
