As part of the program "Revival and Development of Historic Small Towns", two million rubles were allocated from the federal budget for the restoration of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Alatyr (Chuvash Republic). The cathedral, which turns 300 this year, was transferred to the Chuvash diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church in 1999. On September 19, the building was inspected by the representative of the North-West Directorate of the Gosstroy of Russia, Marina Stepanova, and the general director of the restoration company, Oleg Sysuev, accompanied by Deputy Mayor V.
