The Perm Muftiate prohibits clergy from engaging in politics, but calls on Muslims to take part in elections and referendums

The Perm Muftiate called on the Muslims of the region to take part in the parliamentary elections and a referendum on the unification of the Perm Region and the Komi-Perm Autonomous Okrug, scheduled for December 7, just like the elections. However, Mufti Mukhammedgali Khuzin reminded that religious organizations in Russia, according to the law, cannot participate in political life, therefore, clergy caught in election campaigns will be removed from their positions.
