Bishop Irinarkh (Gresin) of Perm and Solikamsk called on Orthodox believers to take part in the forthcoming referendum on December 7 and support the process of unification of the Perm Region and the Komi-Permyatsk Autonomous Okrug into a single Perm Territory.
Vladyka Irinarkh noted that the Church has always participated "in the gathering of Russian lands," and the unification of the Perm Territory "will be a sign of the strengthening of the Russian state."
Earlier, Muslim leaders of the region called for participation in the referendum.
