The Nizhny Novgorod diocese, the office of the plenipotentiary representative of the President of Russia in the Volga Federal District, the administration of the Nizhny Novgorod region jointly developed the School of Cultures program aimed at developing the educational part of the Ilyinskaya Sloboda project (restoration of Orthodox churches in the historical center of Nizhny Novgorod).
On the basis of general education schools located in the city center, it is planned to create a system of interaction between religious and secular education. A meeting on this project was held in the reception room of Bishop Georgy (Danilov) of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas. The meeting was attended by Olga Baraeva, Advisor to the Office of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District, Director of the Department of Education and Social and Legal Protection of Childhood of the Administration of Nizhny Novgorod Irina Tarasova, Head of the Department of Education and Social and Legal Protection of Childhood of the Administration of the Nizhny Novgorod District Lyudmila Soloshenko, directors of schools and kindergartens.
During the meeting, experts were selected for the implementation of spiritual and educational programs, who were instructed to develop projects for summer holiday camps. Archpriest Alexander Myakinin, Vice-Rector of the Nizhny Novgorod Seminary, was assigned to School No. 33, Priest Nikolai Gorbatovsky, to School No. 35, and Priest Alexei Gorin, to School No. 113. Deputy Chairman of the Department of Religious Education of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese E.L. Gunbina will organize classes on "Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture" for teachers of kindergartens No. 38 and No. 230.
