Police detained participants of the failed anti-Caucasus rally on Lubyanka Square

On February 20, 2004, 15 young people aged 14 to 20 were detained by police officers in Moscow on Lubyanka Square for attempting to hold an unauthorized rally there to protest against the “dominance” of visitors from the southern republics in the capital.

According to the head of the information and public relations department of the Moscow Main Internal Affairs Directorate, Kirill Mazurin, the capital’s police officers had operational information that a group of young people had prepared an unauthorized rally.

In the area of ​​Lubyanka Square, employees of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate concentrated an additional number of squads. As a result, the group was detained and taken to the Kitay-Gorod police station. Several posters with extremist content were confiscated from them.

However, they did not consider the actions of the detainees as an attempt to hold an unauthorized rally at the Main Internal Affairs Directorate, explaining this by the fact that they did not have any slogans.
