Orthodox residents of St. Petersburg are outraged by “pornographic” TV advertising

On February 19, the Orthodox news agency Russkaya Liniya, citing the Novy Peterburg newspaper, published an appeal by deputies and employees of the Municipal Council of the St. Petersburg Municipal Formation "Vladimirsky District" on behalf of the residents of the district to the head of the regional department of the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Antimonopoly Policy Oleg Vasilyevich Kolomiychenko. The authors of the appeal protest against "placement of unethical and even pornographic advertisements on television commercials shown on central television."

"Under the guise of advertising Tinkoff beer," the document says, "obscene scenes and poses are shown that are indecent to describe in an open letter. By itself, this advertisement can be qualified in accordance with Article 8 of the Federal Law "On Advertising" dated 18.07.95 108-FZ as unethical, which is not allowed.

We believe that such advertising is not acceptable. Such advertising has especially severe consequences for the destruction of the psyche on children, it actually commits violent intellectual corruption of the younger generation.

The authors of the appeal ask the head of the local Department of the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Antimonopoly Policy "to take all measures, in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, to prevent the appearance of such advertising in the media, as it violates the moral principles of children, adolescents and youth."
