The inhabitants of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra were unable to take part in the presidential elections. The abbot of the monastery, Archimandrite Nazariy (Lavrinenko), in an interview with the St. Petersburg newspaper Smena, said that the brethren were not included in the voter lists. Monks with a residence permit in St. Petersburg could vote at city polling stations. The inhabitants, who did not have a city registration, were generally deprived of the opportunity to take part in the elections.
