Beating of guest workers from Azerbaijan in the village of Linevo, Novosibirsk region

At the end of July 2004, eight migrant workers from Azerbaijan were brutally beaten in the village of Linevo, Novosibirsk Region. Unknown people in masks broke into the apartment where the workers lived and took them to the cemetery. There the workers were severely beaten with baseball bats. The attackers also set fire to the "Toyota" of the owner of the apartment (he is also the foreman of road repairmen), where the Azerbaijanis lived.

One of the victims had both arms broken, the other had one arm broken. The rest received injuries and beatings of varying severity. There is an investigation. There are suspects. The investigation has several versions of what happened, but the nationalist version is not considered. Journalists put forward the assumption about the murder on a national basis. The residents of the village name the following reasons for the beating: "Azerbaijanis got it because they knock down the prices for asphalt work ... In an Internet forum in Novosibirsk discussing this article, there was a report about the plot of the Linevo district television, in which this episode was described even more brutally than in the newspaper. It says that "beating with bats with breaking bones and burning with cigarettes" took place "on the road somewhere on the outskirts" in the presence of "about 100 spectators" .

This is not the first case of a nationalist attack in the Novosibirsk region. The author of an article in Vedomosti refers to the episode of the murder of a gypsy in Iskitim by unknown persons in masks and with baseball bats. And in 2005, in Iskitim, the leaders of a local criminal group staged massive arsons of houses in a gypsy village.

In December 2005, information was published that the identities of the five attackers - residents of Linevo - had been established. However, the investigation believes that 10 to 20 people closely associated with local criminal groups were involved in the kidnapping and massacre. There is no other information on the investigation of this case.
