Caring for the welfare of the people

On September 15, 2004, Literaturnaya Gazeta published the Statement of the Public Council of the Organizing Committee of the "Party of the Sons of Russia", dedicated to the series of terrorist attacks in August-September 2004.

Despite the fact that the statement ends with the arguments that "a Russian is someone who loves Russia, who cares about its good, regardless of nationality" , some turns included in the text cast doubt on the sincerity of this declaration; someone, perhaps, will doubt that "Russians are the most peace-loving and most hospitable people in the world . "

In particular, the text signed by the writer Yuri Bondarev, singer Yuri Malikov, composer Oleg Ivanov, announcer Anna Shatilova and other lesser-known public and cultural figures speaks not only of the "unprecedented in scale Chechen terror", but also that " the population half of our capital already consists of migrants of "Caucasian nationality" " , and also that "until now we have practically no structures and power centers capable of protecting the titular nation from an alien ethnic invasion, which sooner or later will give rise to spontaneous waves of protest" .

We, in turn, draw attention to the fact that by publishing this text, the editors of Literaturnaya Gazeta actually continue the policy of posting provocative materials that not only cause indignation of a number of readers, but may well become the subject of criminal proceedings, as happened, for example , with an article by Konstantin Krylov , who accused the Chechen people of fascism.
