On October 26, 2004, representatives of sixty nationalities living in Moscow held a working meeting and discussed the draft program "Multinational Moscow: Creating an Atmosphere of Interethnic Solidarity, a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence in the Metropolitan Metropolis for 2005-2007". The preparation of the project is carried out by the Interethnic Advisory Council (ISS) under the Government of Moscow. Its chairman is Vice Mayor Valery Shantsev.
Representatives of national-cultural organizations are invited to make their proposals on the development of this program.
According to media reports, the program is designed for 2005-2007 and will come into effect on January 1, 2005.
V. Shantsev believes that it will be an important step towards creating an atmosphere of interethnic tolerance in the capital. According to Gazeta's estimates, the document is declarative in nature and is unlikely to be able to reconcile the warring parties.
A more detailed examination of the issue revealed that the development and discussion of the program is planned to be completed only in the first quarter of 2005.
