Officials and leaders of national associations learn to cooperate

On October 21-22, 2004, Rostov-on-Don hosted a training seminar on the theme "Interaction of national associations with authorities".

The seminar was organized by the Center for Interethnic Cooperation (Moscow). The seminar was attended by leaders of national public associations and representatives of authorities of ten constituent entities of the Russian Federation: Rostov, Astrakhan, Volgograd, Perm, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod and Sverdlovsk regions, Krasnodar and Stavropol territories.

Among the participants of the seminar, including - heads and specialists of departments and departments for interethnic relations and work with public organizations, as well as employees of the regional and regional police departments (Tatiana Krasilnikova, head of the Public Relations Department of the Volgograd Region Administration; Yuri Burlachko, head of the Department for Interaction with Public associations, religious organizations and monitoring of migration processes of the Administration of the Krasnodar Territory; Marina Plyasunova, Chief Specialist of the Department of Internal Policy of the Administration of the Sverdlovsk Region; Nadezhda Osipova, Chief Specialist of the Department for Interaction with Public Organizations, Nationalities and Religious Confessions of the Ministry of Culture of the Samara Region; Raisa Shchukina, consultant of the Department of Internal Policy and Interaction with the Territories of the Administration of the Perm Region Vladimir Otvagin, Chief Specialist of the Committee for Relations with Political Parties, Public Associations and National Relations of the Regional Administration of Rostov-on-Don; Viktor Viktorin, Advisor to the Department for Interaction with Socio-Political Associations of Citizens and National Cultural Societies of the Administration of the Astrakhan Region; Sergey Zakharov, Chief Specialist of the Department for International Relations and Interaction with Public Associations and Monitoring of Migration Processes of the Administration of the Krasnodar Territory; Vladimir Vysheslavov, Leading Specialist of the Department for Nationalities and Interaction with Public and Religious Organizations of the Government of the Stavropol Territory.)

The objective of the seminar was to draw up recommendations for effective interaction between the authorities and national communities in order to successfully protect national minorities. On November 2, the Center for Interethnic Cooperation sent the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the State Duma Boris Gryzlov recommendations developed by the seminar participants.
