Deputies of the Sverdlovsk Regional Duma increased funding for the temple transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church

In 2005, budget financing of the Church-on-the-Blood, transferred on October 20 to the gratuitous use of the Yekaterinburg diocese, will be increased 3 times. This decision was taken by the regional council. It is planned to allocate 6 million rubles for the maintenance of the temple.

In 2004, the region allocated 2 million rubles to the temple. Nail Shaimardanov, leader of the "For the Native Urals" faction, explains the decision to increase funding for the cult building by the need to increase security measures. The allocated funds are planned to be spent on the installation of a video surveillance system and the construction of special fences.

Some MPs were outraged by this proposal. The deputy from the Party of Pensioners Gennady Tveritinov rightly believes that 6 million rubles should be enough to maintain a whole regiment of guards. Some colleagues of G. Tveritinov reminded that there are schools and kindergartens in the region, which also need protection. However, the pro-governor's majority voted in favor of allocating additional funds to the Temple-on-the-Blood.
