The administration of one of the districts of Bashkiria decided to sell an old mosque in the village of Buraevo to an entrepreneur who intends to open a youth recreation center in the building. This decision caused outrage among local Muslims. On October 30, a delegation from the community of believers met with the head of the administration, Masnavi Arslanov, and demanded an explanation from him. A telegram protesting against the sale of the mosque was also sent to the leadership of the republic. However, M. Arslanov himself does not see anything reprehensible in what happened.
"The mosque was dilapidated, not subject to reconstruction. So they decided to give it to a man with money. He intends to build a youth recreation center in its place. Moreover, two mosques are already functioning in the village," ITAR-TASS quoted him as saying.
