Islam.ru published a Daily Times report (translated by InoPress) about the reaction of residents of the North Caucasian republics to the actions of law enforcement agencies to combat "Wahhabism".
Residents of Cherkessk are outraged that the only mosque located in the suburbs is deprived of the attention of the authorities, while in Nalchik Muslims are afraid to attend collective prayers, as law enforcement agencies began to control everyone who comes there.
In addition, security officials compiled a list of 500 members of extremist groups. Many in Nalchik told the Daily Times that they did not support the militants, but that the list was a ploy designed to crack down on dissidents. According to local residents, such a policy of power structures discredits the idea of preventing religious extremism.
