The Committee of Solidarity with Russian Ukraine was created

On January 2, in Moscow, in the church of St. Nicholas on Bersenevka, the creation of the Committee of Solidarity with Russian Ukraine was announced. The chairman of the committee was the head of the Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods, Leonid Simonovich-Niksic, and the deputies were the press secretary of the Union of Orthodox Citizens, Kirill Frolov, and political scientist S. Shatokhin.

The authors of the statement expressed "angry protest against the brazen interference of the North Atlantic Masonic military bloc in the internal affairs of Orthodox Ukraine" and solidarity "with their brothers in Ukraine in their courageous resistance to adversaries in the context of an unconstitutional coup and the establishment of a pro-American occupation regime." The statement also contains an appeal to V. Putin "to recognize VF Yanukovych as the legitimate President of Ukraine and not to support the anti-constitutional Yushchenko-Tymoshenko coup." In the event of Viktor Yushchenko's inauguration, the statement says, the Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods will "insist on the withdrawal of the Russian Federation from the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation with Ukraine."

The statement was supported by Orthodox patriotic movements: the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael, the NPF "Pamyat", the Russian National Unity, the "Black Hundred" and the Ural Cossack Host.
