Conviction confirmed for killers of African student

On January 19, 2005, the Supreme Court of Moscow upheld the verdict of the Voronezh Court, adopted in September 2004, against skinheads accused of killing African student Amaru António Lima . By court decision, Yevgeny Shishlov was sentenced to 17 years in a strict regime colony, Roman Ledenev - to 10 years, Vladimir Kokushin - to 9 years in an educational colony. Lawyers for the defendants called the sentence too harsh and filed an appeal. However, the Supreme Court not only left the decision in force, but also confirmed the motive of ethnic and racial hatred in the actions of the defendants.

We publish the speech of the public prosecutor I.V. Kovalev at the trial on charges of three residents of Voronezh in the murder of a citizen of Guinea-Bissau, Amaru Antonio Lima.
