Prosecutor of the Moscow Region about skinheads and migrants

On January 19, 2005, the Argumenty i Fakty - Moskva newspaper published an interview with Ivan Sydoruk, Prosecutor of the Moscow Region, on the state of crime in the region as a whole, the most serious crimes and an analysis of their causes.

In particular, I. Sydoruk noted that despite the fact that there have been more murders with a clearly expressed nationalist motive in the region recently, it is very difficult to prove the racial component of the crime. Therefore, at present, it has only been possible to prove it in three cases: “ in one case against Skhodnensky skinheads, there is already a verdict , the other two are pending in court [probably, this refers to the trial of the killers of Y. Kan and the trial of the killers of a citizen of Tajikistan - ed. ]". In addition, an investigation into the murder of ethnic Yezidi G. Akhmedov has been completed [in the news feeds, the murdered man was named Mamedov - ed. ]. I. Sydoruk stressed that despite the fact that teenagers often boast of their "skinheading", "as practice shows," real skinheads, "killing" for an idea, "do not forget to clean the pockets of the victim" .

In the same interview, the question of the relationship between the level of crime and uncontrolled, illegal migration was also raised. I would like to note that, unlike many similar interviews, the prosecutor of the Moscow region almost managed to avoid ethnically negative or "anti-migrant" statements. He did not deny the high percentage of violent crimes committed by illegal migrants ( "illegals account for every third serious and especially serious crime, every fifth murder" ). However, he specifically emphasized that this was primarily due to social reasons: "The socio-economic situation in the country as a whole affects the state of crime. Often people without a permanent source of income become criminals . "

Comm. The interview is clearly old - it contains outdated information. Why it was published only now is not entirely clear. However, we cannot fail to note such a clearly articulated position of the head of the Moscow Region prosecutor's office.
