On the evening of January 22, 2005, an attack occurred on a group of African students in Nizhny Novgorod.
Seven Africans, students of the Nizhny Novgorod State Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering (five sophomores and two freshmen from the Congo and Mauritania) were returning to the hostel from the Nizhny Novgorod post office when they were attacked by a group of “uniformly dressed” people (in black jackets and identical scarves with the inscription “Russia”) teenagers Five sophomores managed to escape. The teenagers began to beat the remaining two. One of the victims managed to escape and call the police, the other was taken to the hospital with beatings and a broken nose.
The local university students who took part in the attack were quickly detained .
