On February 12-13, 2005, rallies were held in different cities of the country for monetization or against it. In support of the abolition of benefits, rallies were held under the patronage of the United Russia party, and protests were held by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, the NBP, and Yabloko.

During the pro-government rallies, special emphasis was placed on "conspiracy theories" (cf. with previous statements regarding the opposition to the president). " In Novosibirsk, the secretary of the political council of the United Russia branch, director of the Novosibirsk Central Department Store, Yuri Glazychev, who spoke at the rally, warned the audience that "political speculators are in a hurry to take advantage of every mistake of the government - both liberal revenge-seekers, and radicals of all stripes, and their foreign patrons . " And the Samara "United Russia" even the day before published their main theses in the local press: "The course towards the socio-economic revival of the country, pursued by Vladimir Putin, irritates those forces that are not interested in the independence and prosperity of our homeland. Protest rallies organized by them, is a clear confirmation of this. .
